Unlike the golden sands you might expect, Formosa boasts a unique volcanic black pebble beach, offering a dramatic and unforgettable coastal experience. Stretching along the western edge of Funchal, it's a place where you can truly unwind and soak up the Madeiran sunshine. The beach is actually a collection of smaller beaches – Praia Formosa, Praia Nova, Praia dos Namorados, and Praia do Areeiro – all connected by a long promenade. While the sand might be a bit different, the amenities are top-notch. You'll find plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas for rent, making it easy to settle in for a relaxing day. Transportation
